About Karolina

Where are you from, and how long have you been a barber?

I’m from Gdańsk in Poland, and I’ve been cutting hair professionally since 2018/2019.

What made you choose barbering as a career?

I treat barbering as an art form without limits. I have always wanted to create, express myself artistically, and help people feel like the best version of themselves.

Who or what inspires your work behind the chair?

As a teenager, I loved fashion shows—their unusual, unconventional hairstyles inspired me to create and push the boundaries of styling.

If you weren’t a barber, what do you think you’d be doing?

I’d probably be a plastic surgeon or run my own beach bar.

Personal Interests

What are your hobbies outside of barbering?

I love interior decoration, floristry, creating decorations, and colorful makeup.

What music do you love to listen to while cutting hair?

I enjoy country music and old jazz.

What’s a fun fact about you that customers might not know?

I trained in karate and kickboxing for several years and even appeared in two TV shows.

Barbering & Haircuts

What’s your favourite haircut to do and why?

A side part with a skin fade—a timeless men’s classic that combines elegance and modernity.

Are there any classic or trending styles you enjoy cutting the most?

I love cutting the short modern mullet—a trendy and dynamic style that suits a variety of looks.

What’s one hairstyle you think is underrated and deserves more attention?

A short, messy French crop—simple, stylish, and easy to maintain.

Customer Advice

What’s the #1 tip you’d give customers to keep their haircut fresh at home?

Proper care is essential. Wash your hair when needed, always wash out styling products at the end of the day, and visit your barber every 3-5 weeks to maintain a sharp look.

What’s a common mistake people make when styling their hair, and how can they fix it?

Not using a blow dryer at the start of styling, skipping a pre-styler for hair that’s resistant to styling, or using too much product. A fingertip-sized amount of wax, evenly spread throughout the hair—not just on the surface—makes all the difference.

Are there any must-have hair products you always recommend?

My number one product is a good quality conditioner—healthy hair equals a great haircut. For styling, my go-to products are sea salt spray and classic matte clay.

Just for Fun

If you could cut anyone’s hair (past or present), who would it be?

Luis Zahera, Nikola Tesla, and Frank Sinatra.

What’s the most memorable or funniest moment you’ve had as a barber?

Funny Moments:

  • I once asked a client to spit out their gum before a beard trim, gesturing with my hand. The client misunderstood and spit the gum into my hand.

  • I showed a client a meme of Jesus dancing on a cross like it was a pole in a strip club. I thought it was funny—until the client told me he was a priest.

Most Memorable Moment: A client came in after a long stay in prison, looking neglected with long, tangled hair and a beard. He told me to do whatever I wanted, as he wanted a symbol of his new beginning. I gave him a carefully crafted haircut and beard trim, keeping the mirror turned away until the end. When he finally saw himself, he stood up, cried, and hugged me, thanking me for giving him a fresh start.
